Four School Children

Three boys, One girl, One bench.

And a hill between them and the schoolhouse.

Before buses and cars, these children walked to school, often over dirt roads.  They were waiting for the school bell to ring and trek up the hill to the one room schoolhouse where the teacher and the three R’s were waiting for them: ‘Read’in, Riting and Rithmetic!
