WARNER CHEESE FACTORY

Fred Warner, a former governor of Michigan, built several cheese factories throughout Oakland County around 1900. Our cheese factory was located on 14 Mile Road east of the Van Every grist mill and Franklin Road.

Every other Thursday morning, Seba Bristol, who lived with his wife and family in rooms at the cheese factory, would cut the cheeses for locals to purchase.

In 1913, their son, Ken, was born upstairs in the cheese factory!

Ken became a watercolorist and preserved Franklin’s history through his artwork. One of his paintings hangs above the fireplace in the Franklin library. Be sure to “check” it out!
